Students from Sonia Sotomayor (pictured in this photo) and the rest of the Sioux Falls School District would like to wish you a Happy Veteran's Day! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
South Dakota public schools proudly recognize and support the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. Their sacrifices and dedication have upheld the values and freedoms we cherish, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to protecting our nation.
Our schools are committed to instilling respect and appreciation for veterans among our students, helping them understand the importance of service and dedication. We invite our community to join us in expressing heartfelt gratitude and respect for our veterans.
Thank you to all our veterans for your service and sacrifice!
Third graders took advantage of the nice weather and moved their book club meetings outside on Friday!! They meet once a week to have authentic conversations about the book they choose to read. They ask questions, discuss the characters, and decide how far to read until their next meeting. They focus on one book a month and take turns being the leader. They had lots of fun reading outside.
Nice work High Flyers! We are proud of you for being good leaders in our school! Keep up the good work! Way to be respectful, responsible, and safe!
Happy STEM Day on Friday! Our students love getting chances to work with science, technology, engineering skills, and math throughout the year! In Family time, we did laser mazes, circuits, domino maze, and robots this week! How fun!
Important reminder - please use the crosswalk! Please pass on the info to anyone else picking up your children! Thank you!!
REMINDER! Sioux Falls School District schools and offices will be CLOSED on Monday, November 11, in honor of Veteran’s Day.
Thank you to all who have served! Especially SFSD staff members who proudly serve(d) in our schools and on the front lines. 🇺🇸

Construction ahead! The house is down! The students were entertained at recess by the construction crew taking down the house! The house was taken down as part of an ongoing project to expand our playground! Cool!
The new soccer goals are a big hit! The kids were excited to see the new goals on Monday! So many kids played soccer the past few days!
Our parents and volunteers do so much to help out at our school and in our classrooms!! All of the classrooms have the parents and volunteers listen to kids read throughout the day. Reading out loud to someone is a great skill to practice reading and to work on fluency and expression. Thanks for lending a listening ear!
Student Council elections were held on Nov. 5th! 1st through fifth graders got a chance to run for Student Council. They had to make a poster and then either do a speech or video about the reasons why they wanted to run. Each class got to go to the voting booths and vote. Congrats to all of our winners! Kindergarteners still got in on the action by voting for their favorite food...chicken nuggets was the winner!
Congrats to our High Flyers this past week! They showed us responsibility, respect, and safety! Way to go!
