Every year the Jane Addams teachers surprise their students with a costume reveal! This year they were characters from the Inside Out movies and came zooming in as mixed emotions in go-karts from Thunder Road!! Big thank you to Thunder Road for allowing us to use the go-karts!! The kids loved it!! Thanks to our teachers for putting in the effort to dress up for the kids!
October 31st was a fun day at school! We had a the teacher costume reveal, kids costume parade, classroom parties, and then a sing along in family! Kids had a blast! Big thank you to all of the classroom parents who organized the parties and to other volunteers who helped! The kids had so much fun!
On November 1st, we made our second trip to the Embe pool! Kids had a blast!
Third graders and kindergarteners are reading buddies each week on Fridays! Last Friday, they took a field trip together to Our Farm! It was a beautiful fall day! Thanks to all of our volunteers who drove and helped chaperone!
Jane Addams students earned a Lights Out Party through earning enough tickets in our PBIS behavior program! This meant they could bring in a flashlight to learn "in the dark!" It was a lot of fun!
The Fall Festival was a great time!! It is fun to see all of the costumes and creative booths! Kids love playing the games! Thanks to all of the families who prepared booths and to the Dachtler family for getting things organized!! We also love seeing all of the ACE alumni come back to visit too!
Congrats to our High Flyers! We worked hard to show responsibility, respectfulness, and safety! As a school, we earned enough tickets for a Lights Out Party next week! Way to go!
The 4th and 5th graders had an awesome afternoon at Yogi Bear! Thanks to the parents for driving! So fun!
We are always proud to hear of the accomplishments of our former All City students!! These students all received academic letter awards for achieving a 3.5 or higher in two consecutive semesters! Way to go! We love to hear from alumni and even had former students come visit us during conferences just for fun! So sweet! We encourage anyone to share the successes of our alumni to us! We have so much to be proud of over the past 50 years!
Kids Care is a great opportunity for our 4th and 5th graders to give back to our community led by Amy Hoines, our Kids Care Coordinator. This month our kids helped with Kinder Academy, Lifescape, Dakotabilities, Toy Lending Library, St. Francis House, Bishop Dudley House, and making tie blankets for the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace which gets kids in need into brand new beds. Mrs. Smilloff's art classes AMAZED us!! They did an incredible job on their neon art projects!! The kids loved seeing their work displayed and the cool effect in the black lights! This was so awesome!
The 3rd graders made their first visit to Dow Rummel Assisted Living Nursing Home on Friday, October 18th for their monthly community service project. They made fall decorations for their doors and visited with the residents. They wore their Halloween costumes and then read to the residents. It is a great experience for all!
The Book Fair was a huge success! Thank you for the support! We were able to give a big donation to the library and many families bought books for the teachers off their wishlists! Awesome! Thanks to Karina Dachtler for her hard work getting things ready!
One of our after school enrichment activities, Book Clubs, got started on Friday afternoon for grades 3-5. At their first meeting, they talked about the books they are going to read, made some predictions about their first book, and then had some fun making some book marks! The kids are super excited to get reading!
The Jane Addams staff is very grateful for our parent volunteers providing us meals during conferences! It is such a blessing!

Book Fair is coming Oct 15 and Oct 17 during conferences! Paper Pie will be set up in the gym from 12:30-7pm on the 15th and 3:30-7pm on the 17th. Come check it out! Books make great birthday or Christmas gifts! Teachers will have wish lists available for you to buy for the classroom as well.
